Shine a Light on Climate Justice Candle

With the blessing of Eco-Congregation Ireland, Kilmacud Parish has been invited to host the Climate Justice Candle during the Season of Creation. The candle is travelling from parish to parish in Ireland and is a wonderful symbol that unites us all as we reflect on the beauty of God’s world and consider the practical steps we each can take to prevent further damage to the environment. We also pray for those already affected by climate change, and for future generations.

Churches throughout Ireland have joined in the ‘Shine a Light on Climate Justice’ initiative, which was launched at the National Ecumenical Prayer Service for COP21 in the presence of President Michael D Higgins in November 2015.

The candle is hosted by a different church each month and parishes are encouraged to focus on climate justice through  prayer, reflection and action.
